I believe we are already seeing the marriage of both platforms as mobile marketing is able to reach people in the moment. With the popularity of social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter providing businesses with a way to reach potential customers when they are ready to act is key.
I work with clients in developing social media and mobile marketing solutions that allow them to connect with their audience at the time their audience is most likely to make a decision to engage with them. I believe the key to effective mobile and social media marketing is to focus on a specific action that you would like the prospect to take. Often this step is NOT to make a purchase. For example, as a real estate agent, your goal would be to connect with potential sellers and buyers when they are ready to make a decision; often that decision will be “Who should I work with to buy/sell?”
Too many businesses try to sell their product or service directly via social media and mobile marketing. Many other businesses ignore these potentially lucrative marketing avenues because they do not believe they have anything to “sell” a prospect on the spot. Remember, often times the sale you really want to make is to have the prospect reach out and contact you.
Social media marketing allows you to establish yourself as an expert in your field while connecting with people in a manner that is less formal and more friendly. Mobile marketing allows you to be in front of your audience when they are considering engaging with you. Effectively connecting your social media marketing and your mobile marketing will allow you to connect with your audience in a fashion that you never imagined and that leads to more business and profits.
