Prayables.com was founded in 2009 and in business terms is a successful start-up with over 12,000 subscribers to the daily newsletter and a website that generates over 30,000 visitors a month and growing. One of the challenges has been; finding and recruiting the top tier of talented people to add to the team. I receive requests on a regular basis from competent writers and marketers who have passion for the project and identify with the mission— a well-stocked employment pool has not been a problem. What continues to vex me, and the other leaders at Prayables, is finding the truly extraordinary individual, who can immediately dig in and be productive from GO!
The second challenge is finding the “secret sauce” that will cause people to come back for more, and tell their friends. Steady, incremental growth can be cultivated. There’s even a percentage of traffic which can be bought through advertising and other sources. Explosive growth is the tricky part. It’s generating the really big traffic numbers which enable an online entrepreneur to monetize the business and continue to open the virtual doors every day. It’s trying out new ideas on the fly, and discarding the ones that don’t show immediate promise. It’s hiring fast and firing fast, to preserve precious capital. And it’s building just the right culture for innovation, and execution of a “you’ve got to be kidding me” crazy kind of “what will they think of next?” plan.
A wise man once told me: The checkbook talks. When you have something that will make other people money, they will find you. Bringing the sacred into the world of cut-throat venture capitalists and singularly focused accountants, is a risky business. I am up to the challenge and empowered by it. I am the new breed of social entrepreneurs who will change the world.

Truly exceptional individuals are those who can’t stand still and refuse to be ineffective. They have an innate desire to make change, to create something new, and to make an impact. They don’t stop pushing for the best thing.
As for “secret sauce”, I’d love to hear some of the examples that have worked (and what hasn’t work) to bring that explosive growth to Prayables.
