It has been proven that in the first 60-seconds of meeting someone, that person has already come to 11 conclusions about who you are based solely upon what you look like.  As the owner of IMAGEine U., an image consulting company in the Philadephia area, I deal with clients on a daily basis that come to me wanting to make sure that their personal and professional attire is helping them make the right impression.

More and more businesses may be saying “Goodbye” to the traditional suit and tie, but that doesn’t mean that you still don’t need to dress to impress.  In order to be successful, you have to look the part.  Many employees do the wrong thing when their company goes casual by being far too casual.  There are many ways to wear your jeans and continue to look professional and put together.

With a more casual office environment, there is less of a chance to impress, because many people associate casual with comfort.  Clothing that falls into the comfort category is not the type of clothing you would want to wear to a major meeting unless, of course, you work at retailer for baggy jeans, sweat pants, and leggings.  If businesses want to see their employees succeed, they need to teach their employees that even with a casual dress code, there will still be a high standard for dress, just like there is a high standard for work.

The better you look, the more confident and motivated you will be, and this better attitude will show through your work.  Loose fitting and baggy clothing, torn up jeans, and sloppy attire doesn’t look good and it doesn’t exude confidence.  In order to dress casual and play the part of a professional, choose well-fitting garments that lay on the body without being too tight.  Pair dark denim jeans with blazers and appropriate button front tops in order to feel casual and still look confident.  Just because an office doesn’t require you to wear a suit and tie doesn’t mean it can’t be a denim, blazer, button up shirt, and tie office.  Companies with a casual dress code should teach their employees these rules and lead by example.

  5. I think formal clothes are better option for this. Many of us are not used to wear formal clothes nowadays because there are fewer occasions where formal clothes are demanded. If we talk about professional attire then formal dress always comes first. To wear a formal dress at the workplace will help you to make the impression on your customers.
